How I got to know the Dark and Stormy
Well, the Dark and Stormy is not a real cocktail. At least not an old fashionedI tyle, so why is it here on my cocktail page ?
I got introduced to it by our son Mikkel, who fancied it when he was partying. We also liked it and especially for warmer summers (not in Denmark) it is a very delicious drink with a great colour mix.
The recipe:
2 oz. dark rum*
3 oz. ginger beer**
1/2 oz. lime juice
Combine the rum, the ginger beer, and the lime juice in a tall Collins glass full of ice cubes. Stir and garnish wit a lime wedge.
Historical Background
The Dark and Stormy is invented in the British Navy and is a real “sailors drink”. The time of origin is unknown, but is “somewhere between” 1500 and 1900.
